That’s because it is.
A few days ago someone contacted me who’d bought a “turnkey business” on eBay and was dismayed to find out it wasn’t exactly what he envisioned. The site LOOKED good; he did get a big fancy nice-looking “turnkey website.”
However… the site was pre-populated with the eBay seller’s affiliate ID in all those “streams of income.” The site content was poorly written, obviously by someone who didn’t speak English well. There was SO MUCH THAT NEEDED CHANGED OR FIXED that it was impractical to do.
Worse, the site was identical to thousands of other sites – meaning there’s NO CHANCE it will rank well in Google, because there’s nothing unique about it.
The gentleman who contacted me asked, then, how much it would cost to start over – to build a site that included everything this site supposedly offered.
My answer?
Thousands of dollars.
And that’s just to build it. What about MARKETING the site? How would he get people to the site, how would he compete with the national well-established companies that already dominated this niche? (Pet products.)
NO ANSWER.
I’m sorry this guy lost money, but he got off easy – there are people who lose tens of thousands of dollars on “make money online” offers like this every day.
Here’s the moral of the story.
